In today’s news, Israel has placed about 2000 students and teachers on Isolation bringing the total of school students and teachers quarantined to 6831. The ministry also stated that 244 school students and staff currently have the novel Coronavirus.
Israel shuts down schools: Several schools affected
According to reports, three schools in Hagalil, Keshet and Tel Aviv – Hatarden have been closed after it was discovered that a student from each of the schools had contacted the coronavirus.
Gimmel comprehensive school in Be’er Sheva has also been shut down after a female student tested positive for the virus. Also, after three pupils were confirmed to have the virus, two high schools in Bat Yam – Milton and Shazar were closed.
In Jerusalem, two schools were also shut down. One of which was the Seligsberg high school after two of its students tested positive, the other was the Zalman Aran school with three students also falling ill.
All extracurricular activities have thereby been suspended till further notice in Jerusalem. Students and teachers have been instructed to go on isolation until all necessary tests have been carried out.
Minister of Education, Yoav Galant has stated that schools should immediately close if any case of coronavirus is reported. He made this statement after the procedures for tackling covid-19 was released by the ministry of health.
Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting on Monday to address the issue as Israel shuts down schools. However, Israel’s shutting down of schools is a welcome development so as to bring this deadly pandemic to book.
